Introduction

Penalty is levied from on the consumer if in case the consumer fails to make the payment for the bill raised before a the specified due date. The consumer has to make the full payment before due date to avoid penalty charges. The number of days after which the penalty is applicable should be is configurable at the ULB level. The penalty calculation logic may differ from one state or ULB to another.

The penalty can be -

  1. Fixed amount

  2. Percentage: When it is a percentage, it can be levied on

    1. Entire bill amount

    2. Balance pending when partial payments have been made
