Introduction

Buildings types can be further classified into various subcategories to go into the granular level of their usage details. The National Building Code of India (NBC) also classifies the buildings usage type into the sub usage types which can be seen in the attachment.

Procedure

Data Definitions

  • *Building Group (as per Fire Station): Unique code given to the building usage type as per Fire Station.

  • *Building Sub Usage Type (as per Fire Station): Name of subcategories within each building usage type as per fire station.

  • *Sub Division (as per Fire Station): Unique code given to subcategories of buildings as per the fire station.

  • *Building Sub Usage Type (as per NBC): Name of subcategories within each building usage type as per NBC.

  • *Sub Division (as per NBC): Unique code given to subcategories of buildings as per the NBC.

How to fill data

  1. Identify all the different sub usage types for each building group that are being catered by the fire station.

  2. Give each building sub-usage type a unique code in the sub-division (as per fire station) column.

  3. Map the building sub usage types (as per the fire station) to the building sub usage types as defined in the national building code.

Validations

  1. In order to ensure standardization across all the fire stations in the state, it is recommended that the ontology used in the National-Building Code should be adopted.

  2. The Subdivision as per the fire station should be alphanumeric and unique for all the building subtypes.
