  1. Access and Permissions

    • Ensure you have the necessary permissions to access AWS resources and perform upgrades on EKS and RDS.

    • IAM roles and policies should be in place for executing scripts and commands.

  2. Tools and Software

    • AWS CLI installed and configured.

    • kubectl CLI configured with access to the Kubernetes cluster.

    • Access to any monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Kafka-UI) used for Kafka and other services.

    • terraform CLI.

  3. Environment and Dependencies

    • Verify that the upgrade will be compatible with the current environment and dependencies.

    • Ensure no ongoing critical operations that might be affected by the upgrade.

  4. Intimation / Communication

    • Notify stakeholders about the upgrade schedule and potential downtime.

    • Provide regular updates to Project Manager.
