Introduction

Buildings can be classified into various categories on the basis of there usage. Different Firestations can have different nomenclature for building usage type but in order to provide citizens and businesses a uniform experience, it is important that the building usage types are standardized at the state level.

For this purpose, the states can also use the National Building Code of India (NBC), a comprehensive building Code, which is a national instrument providing guidelines for regulating the building construction activities across the country.

Procedure

Data Definitions:

  • Building Usage Type (as per Fire Station): Name of building usage type as per Fire Station.

  • Building Group (as per Fire Station): Unique code given to the building usage type as per Fire Station.

  • Building Usage Type (as per NBC): Name of building usage type as per NBC.

  • Building Group (as per NBC): Unique code given to the building usage type as per NBC.

How to fill data:

  1. Identify all the different types of buildings on the basis of their usage that are being catered by the fire station.

  2. Map the building usage types to the building usage groups as per the national building code and record the appropriate group in this column for each type individually.

 

Validation

In order to ensure standardization across all the fire stations in the state, it is recommended that the ontology used in the National-Building Code should be adopted.
